John Edward Parnell
April 5, 1931 - September 23, 2016
CHESAPEAKE- John Edward Parnell, 85, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on September 23, 2016. A native of Runge, Texas, he was predeceased by wife, Helen Tucker Parnell; son, Phillip Parnell; and sister, Kathleen Barron. John received a degree in architecture from Texas A&M and was a retired computer software developer.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Marilyn Anne Parnell; son, Douglas Edward Parnell; four grandchildren, Taylor Scott, Joplin Parnell, Tyra Sanchez (Clie), and Cheryl Buck (Darrel); four great-grandchildren, Anthony Porsche, Brittany Williams, Shelby Williams and Ashley Williams; three sisters-in-law, Lisa Frola (George), Julie Apitsch (John) and Kathy Nania (Nick); brother-in-law, H.J. Weaver (Melanie); and niece, Felicia Weaver.
Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
