John Marshall "Sonny" Choate
December 30, 1936 - September 26, 2016
Sonny went home to the Lord on Sunday, September 26, 2016.
He was born in Howard County on December 30, 1936 to Melvin and Gladys Choate. He attended Texas A&M University, followed by a 21 year career in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Lt. Colonel. After retiring and returning to Big Spring in 1980, he became a Master Plumber and served as a Howard County Commissioner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice, and sister, Joyce Phillips. Sonny is survived by his three children, Lonnie and wife, Dot, Mark and wife, Shelley, and Linda Choate; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and an older brother, Carroll Choate and wife, Joyce.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org, or the Life Center of Big Spring, 710 S. Gregg St., Big Spring, TX 79720.
There will be a private family memorial service.
