Charles Eugene Collins

Charles E. Collins was born on November [7],1932 in Leonard, Texas to Leslie and Rubye Collins. The day Charles went to be with the Lord was September 24th, 2016. Charles graduated from Bonham High School in 1950 and graduated from Texas A&M in 1954. While
attending A&M Charles served as a Ross Volunteer and was a member of the Singing Cadets. After graduation from A&M, Charles accepted a commission in the US Army in the Corp of Engineers and served his country for two years. Later in life Charles served as
a member of the Texas A&M University Chemical Engineer Advisory Counsel. In 1998 Charles was inducted as a Charter member to the Distinguished Alumni and Honorary Aggie Association. Charles considered it a great honor to serve his school in this capacity.
For many years Charles served as President of the engineering consulting firm of Barnes and Click. This position afforded Charles the adventure of traveling to many interesting places around the world. More outstanding than these accomplishments was his character.
He was always faithful to his wife, loyal to his family, trustworthy and loyal, to his friends. His motto for business was "Always have integrity." In 1954 Charles married Elizabeth Ann Griffin, and they celebrated sixty two joyous years of sharing their lives.
Together they had three children. Charles always served the Lord and taught by example to his children to love the Lord. Charles served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Garland and later at First Baptist Church of Dallas. Charles served as President
of the President's Class of First Baptist Church and made many close friends from his association with the members of the class. Preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Rubye Collins of Bonham and Dallas, he is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth A.
Collins, and much- loved children, their spouses, and his adorable granddaughter: Richard Clay Collins, J.D. and his wife Maggie, Dr. Janet Ann Collins, Steven P. Collins and his wife Kate, and the light of his life, his granddaughter and name sake Charlotte
Elizabeth.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at The First Baptist Church of Dallas, 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 28th, 2016. Visitation will be from 6:00PM – 8:00PM, Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home.
