John R. Carmichael III(1951 - 2016)
CARMICHAEL, III, John R. John R. Carmichael III, age 65, went home to his Lord on September 21, 2016, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on May 12, 1951 in Dallas, Texas to John Richard and Mary Ellen Carmichael. John was raised in Dallas, Texas where he graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1969. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1973 and was a proud member of the Corp of Cadets. He also received a M.B.A. from the University of North Texas. John spent his career devoted to the development of multifamily real estate. He was blessed with great mentorship early in his career at Trammell Crow Residential. He took all his learning and co-founded Westwood Residential, where he has spent the last 24 years building a legacy that will be remembered in the industry. John started his life as a cowboy and ended his life as a cowboy. He spent his formative years roping calves and as an adult riding cutting horses. This summer he rode his favorite horse, "Virgil," to a championship ride in the NCHA Western Nationals 35K Non Pro Competition. While John found great fulfillment in his career and horses, he knew that his truest joy was found in the time spent with his family and dear friends. He was completely devoted to his wife and children. The delight of his life was to see his children grow and thrive. He made it a priority to experience the world with his family. He will be missed immeasurably. John is survived by his loving wife Dimitra Carmichael; daughter Taylor Wynkoop and her husband Lee Wynkoop; daughter Meredith Carmichael; son Brody Carmichael; and step-son Donovan McCampbell. He is also survived by his soon-to-be-born first grandson. John was preceded in death by his parents, John R and Mary Ellen Carmichael. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016, at Fellowship Bible Church Dallas, 9330 N Central Expy, Dallas, TX 75231.
