Harold Conrad Hildebrand Jr., of San Antonio passed away on September 14, 2016, at the age of 79. Harold was born on October 15, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1955 and proceeded to Texas A & M University where he earned an engineering degree in 1959.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Harold C. Conrad, Sr. and Ima R. Meeks Hildebrand, both of San Antonio. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Neva Ann Geddie Hildebrand of San Antonio; brother J.R. (Ray) Hildebrand of Zorn; daughters Tammie Garwood (Mark), Debbie Waldrop (Ronnie), Sheryl Mays (Warren) and Connie Burt; sons Ronald Hildebrand and David Hildebrand; fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Harold met Neva when they were four years old and declared immediately that he would marry her. Neva kept Harold waiting as they grew up and went through high school -- at rival schools. It's a wonder the friendship lasted through four football seasons. Still Harold waited, through his college years. At last, Neva became his bride and followed him through his Air Force career. Harold was a faithful and protective husband and once told a friend regarding Neva's oversized car, "Yeah, I like to keep my wife surrounded by as much metal as possible."

In civilian life, Harold entered the construction trade which his sons have followed. Harold was a big man with a big heart to embrace his family and which expanded to include others as he became a "second dad" to youngsters in the Scout troop he led and in church youth programs. Harold was faithful to our Lord and Savior to the end and trusted in His salvation. He will be greatly missed by many long-time friends as well as his family.

There will be a Celebration of his Life on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Schertz Civic Center in the Bluebonnet Room from 4:00 to 9:30 p.m.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Universal City.
