Tyrus R. King LUBBOCK-Tyrus R. King , 92,passed away Sept. 3, 2016. He was born in Crossett, AR, to Ira and Avis King in 1924. He had six sisters and two brothers. Tyrus was a 2nd Liutenant in the Air Force. He was trained as a bomber pilot. He went to Texas A&M and graduated in 1952 with a degree in petroleum engineering. Tyrus married Carol Hager Steinkopff in El Paso. He was employed with the El Paso Natural Gas Company at the time. Tyrus was later employed with the Texas Railroad commission in Lubbock where he retired residing at Wilshire on 4th Street. After retirement, Tyrus enjoyed going to the Senior Center a great deal. His wife, Carol King of Lubbock and brother, Reggie King of Magnolia survive him. Tyrus donated his body to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
