Andrew L. Williams Jr a well known Civil Engineer passed away 8/23/16 in Katy, Texas. Andy was 94 years old and living at the Grace Care Center of Katy. He was born in Madison County, near Jackson, Tennessee. He was the first of the seven children of Andrew (Roy) Williams and Claribel Robinson Williams. Andy is survived by his wife, Frances Tate Williams from Jackson, Tennessee. Also remaining are, his two children Andrew (Drew) Williams III and Carolyn Williams Woodard. His sister Nancy Williams Turner and brother David predeceased him. His two other brothers, Hubert and Kenneth and two other sisters, Clara Lynn Williams and Lutie Williams Houston Brown persist. Andy has 6 grandchildren – Matthew, Jeremy, Erin, Jennifer, Brett, & Neil. He also has 9 great grandchildren – Tyler (deceased), Ethan, Parker, Asher, Grayson, Blake, Brady, Hailey, & Finn.

Andy attended Union University in Jackson, Tennessee and Texas A & M University. He earned a Masters degree in Civil Engineering specializing in Hydrogeology. Many years later he returned as a visiting lecturer to the graduate school at A & M. Andy was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps. He learned to fly 7 different types of aircraft stateside.

Andy worked for Layne Texas water welling drilling company for 22 years. Then he was a consulting engineer for Turner, Collie, & Braden for 10 years. He was self employed as a civil engineer until age 84 completing 55 years of service in finding underground water, God's great gift.

Andy was involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. He also served on the Board of Directors for Municipal Utility Districts in Harris County.

Andy was an excellent public speaker and a popular Sunday School teacher. He was considered a Bible scholar. He was a Scoutmaster for Troop 222 in Bellaire, Texas and also a President of the Men's Garden Club of Houston. Andy and Frances enjoyed travelling with lifelong friends Clyde and Jean Slay around America and Europe. They love music and he made a joyful noise wherever he went.
