John McAlexander Jr.
1923 - 2016
John “Jack” McAlexander, Jr., 92, of Houston and Lubbock, went to heaven on Monday, August 8, 2016. The youngest son of John McAlexander and Ethel Hamilton McAlexander was born on October 21, 1923 in Temple, Texas. Jack served in the US Army Air Corps in World
War II attaining the rank of Corporal. After the war, Jack completed his education at Texas A & M University.
Jack was married to Elizabeth “Betty” Mae White McAlexander for 71 years. They resided in Austin and San Antonio, before relocating to Houston in 1976. They were long time members of First United Methodist Church of Houston. He was a Loss Control Engineer for
American General Fire & Casualty Company for 40 years. John relocated to Lubbock to be close to family after the death of Betty in 2014.
He is survived by two sons: David McAlexander and wife Susan, of Lubbock; and John McAlexander III and wife Barbara, also of Lubbock; and sister in-law Dorothy McAlexander of Temple. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Suzanne McAlexander Stanton, of
Odessa; Scott McAlexander, of Lubbock; Shaye McAlexander of Mansfield, Ohio; Amy McAlexander Chapa and husband Robert, of Waco; and Anthony McAlexander and wife Charleigh of Houston. John is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Houston, 1320 Main St., Houston, Texas 77002-6803
