Patricia L. (Anderson) Anderson
September 27, 1959 - August 9, 2016

Memorial services for Patricia L. Anderson, 56, of Houston, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2016 in the Henderson Chapel of Lufkin's First United Methodist Church with Pastor Rebecca Hyde officiating. A Reception with the family will be in the Allen Parlor at the Church immediately following the memorial Service.
Pat was born September 27, 1959 in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of Lucille P. Anderson and the late Raye Anderson. She grew up in Lufkin, attended Kurth Elementary where her mother taught 3rd grade for many years, and graduated from Lufkin High School in 1978. At Lufkin High School, Pat was an outstanding student, graduating with high academic marks. She enjoyed sports and was a Cheerleader for the Lufkin Panthers.
After high school, she attended Texas A&M University where she graduated in 1982. She then moved to Houston and she lived there the remainder of her life. She worked for several years as a paralegal. Her son Cyrus Raye Markle (Cy) was born in 1990.
She opened her own business, the Physical Conditioning Center, in the River Oaks area which she operated until her death. The business focused on Pilates training and the rehabilitation of individuals in need. Promoting good health and the independence of running her business gave Pat many years of satisfaction.
Pat enjoyed all kinds of outdoor activities and sports. From battling snakes with her hardhat while working with the forestry service, to racing in competitive bike races such as the hh100, Pat loved to compete and to be outdoors. As any true Texan, Pat also enjoyed football, from the Lufkin Panthers, to the Texas Aggies, to the Houston Texans. Pat was an avid hunter and fisherman, often visiting her family's property on the Guadalupe River in Cuero, TX. There she was in a place that was much loved by her father, and she relished telling people of the joys of hunting in a town known as the turkey capital of the world.
Animals were another great love. There was always a menagerie of dogs, cats, and birds in her home. Much to her mother's chagrin, she had a knack for discovering abandoned animals along the side of the road and giving them a new home. The animals were all special to her and they brought her great joy, especially during her illness.
In 2008, Pat discovered she had advanced stage breast cancer, with doctors telling her she had few years to live. Over the next eight years, Pat valiantly battled the cancer, maintaining a productive and high standard of living while surpassing the expectations of all her doctors. Pat finally succumbed to her disease on Tuesday, August 9, 2016.
Pat is survived by her mother, Lucille P. Anderson of Lufkin; son, Cyrus R. Markle of Houston; and her sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Steve Taylor of Nashville, Tennessee. Other survivors include her aunt, Faye Honea of Lufkin; her cousin, Bruce Honea and his wife Rhonda of Shreveport, LA, and their children and grandchildren; and her cousin, Robert Peebles, his wife Loreta, and their daughter Kate of Dallas, TX. Memorial contributions in Pat's memory may be made to The Rose (Breast Cancer Organization), 12700 N. Featherwood Drive, #260, Houston, TX 77034; or to Lufkin's First United Methodist Church, 805 E. Denman Avenue, Lufkin, TX 75901.
