December 17, 1940 - August 05, 2016

Jackie L. Mahand 75, of College Station, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Friday, August 5th surrounded by his beloved family, after a valiant nine-year battle against cancer.

Born December 17, 1940 in the Prairie Valley Community, Jackie was the eldest of five sons born to Jack and Glenna Johnston Mahand. He was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston and went on to attend Texas A&M University graduating in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He met the love of his life, Patricia (Pat) Crim, in early 1962 and they married on October 27th. His career included employment at Standard Oil of Texas, Cameron Iron Works, HiWay Truck & Equipment and Lance Incorporated. In 1980 he founded Brazos Diesel Service in Bryan, Texas where he delighted in going to work every single day. He attended Central Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowship with the FriendshIp Sunday School class. He was a proud Aggie, and with his lifelong Aggie buddies, traveled across the country supporting Aggie Football.

Jackie is preceded in death by parents Jack and Glenna Johnston Mahand, grandparents Walter and Frances Bruce Mahand, and Joseph and Lola McClain Johnston, and brother Kenneth Mahand.

Jackie is survived by his wife and daughters, Christy Hansen and Cathey Morgan and was blessed with two amazing sons-in-law, Randy Hansen and Bill Morgan. His two grandchildren, Caili Morgan and Kyle Morgan were the joy of his life. He also had a soft place in his heart for the family dog, Turbo. He is also survived by brothers Larry Mahand, Mike Mahand, and Scott Mahand, along with wonderful sisters-in-law Rosa Mahand, Pam Mahand, Leta Mahand and Phyllis Mahand. Jackie’s special nieces and nephews include Mike Sterling, Melinda Stanley, David Bronson Mahand, Brandon Mahand, Barrett Mahand, Chad Mahand, Jake Mahand, Mandy Mahand, Kara Argenbright, Katie Mahand, Kelli Mahand and Clint Mahand.

A memorial service will be held at Central Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas on Thursday, August 11 at 11:00 am with Reverend Chris Osborne officiating. Visitation will follow. The graveside service and interment will be at the Prairie Valley Cemetery in Campbell, Texas on Saturday, August 13 at 3:00pm with Reverend Ralph Anderson officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Club Lake Club House immediately following. Lynch Funeral Service is in charge of all arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Baptist Church Nursery where Jackie rocked the babies during Sunday services prior to his illness.
