Lt Col Alfred E (Kimball) Hocking, USAF (Ret)

Alfred E. "Kimball" Hocking III, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2016 in El Paso, TX. He was born in Peterborough, England in 1945. He was a long time resident of Virginia Beach, VA. He grew up on various Air Force bases throughout the world and eventually moved to El Paso, TX. He graduated from Bel Air High School in 1963 and received his B.S. in Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1967. His career in the United States Air Force was extensive, having retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lt Colonel in 2005. His service to our country continued as he retired in 2014 as a systems analyst at Norfolk Naval Base for the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred E. and Pamela M. (Wollen) Hocking, Jr.; his brothers, Richard, Gary, and Noel; and companion of many years, Kathryne Cochrane. He is survived by a son, Alfred E. 'Ted' (Angela) Hocking IV, two grandsons, Collin and Charles Hocking, all of Champaign, IL, and sister Dawn Hocking of El Paso, TX, and many nieces and nephews.

Kimball took great pride in serving our country and his alma mater, Texas A&M University. He lived life fully with hobbies including hiking, biking, dancing, and collecting trains and coins. He was a member of the Association of Former Students Texas A & M University, VFW and the Order of the Moose fraternity in Virginia Beach, VA. as well as a member of the Episcopal Church.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 7 at F.D.A. Martin Funeral Home East from 2-5 p.m. with the burial to take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.
