John David Evans(1951 - 2016)
ODESSA - John David departed his earthly life July 1, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas. He was surrounded by the loves of his life, i.e. his 3 sisters, brother-in-law, and niece. He was born to Martha Genell Slaten Evans and Damon Lee Evans November 20, 1951 in Snyder, Texas. He grew up in Fort Stockton, Texas, lived in Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and traveled the world, overseeing the start up of numerous Ethanol Processing Plants of which he had designed and written the start-up and maintenance manuals. John David retired when he became concerned the pain management could result in a mistake that would endanger the plant operators. He was a very devout Catholic and as his mobility decreased he never failed to watch Mass on TV, and make sure we all knew he had gone to church and hoped we had too. Over the past 15 years, John David had over 9 back surgeries and lived in pain daily. He truly, "Fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith". He loved his 'Stros, Aggies, and Texans". He was a very kind, gentle, and generous man surrounded by women. He has 3 sisters, who were expected to spoil him constantly, and 5 daughters who he worked at spoiling. He thanked God for Grandchildren and finally some boys! He loved music and sharing it with family. He wrote at least 15 wonderful songs which he sang with his daughters every chance he got. One of our favorites was Red Tailed Hawk but they all were about windmills, mesas, and West Texas. He came home to West Texas for the final months of his life just like his lyrics, "West Texas you're my home"! John David is survived by his parents, Martha Genell and Damon Evans from Odessa, TX, his sisters, Terry Bergeson from Odessa, TX, Pat and Jim Patterson from Odessa, TX, and Tashya and Fred Camacho from Odessa, TX. His 5 daughters, Meredith and Russell Hamilton from Mart, TX, Tina and Todd Ptak from Parker, Colorado, Rachel and Lance Spring from Hewitt, TX, Tyger and Sam Cheney from Conroe, TX, and Camille and David Alexander from Killeen, TX. and 11 Grandchildren, of which 8 where grandsons.

We will celebrate John's life with the Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton's Friday, July 15, 2016 at 1:00.
