Stephen Paul Korkmas, born April 17, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to his adoring parents, Marguerite Khouriy Korkmas and Maurice Vincent Korkmas, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 in Spring, Texas at the age of 59. He received the fulfillment of God's promise
of eternal life after his courageous struggle with cancer.
Stephen is survived by his parents; loving wife of 32 years, Lisa Curtiss Korkmas; devoted children, Andrew and Alexandra; sister, Cathy Airola; and brothers, Craig and Brian Korkmas. Known for his strength and dedication as a family man, Stephen was a caring
husband, father, son, brother, and uncle to his nieces and nephews.
A proud graduate of Texas A & M University and Cistercian Prepatory School (Irving, Texas), Stephen pursued his athletics, studies and Aggie antics with gusto. Whether on the Willow Creek golf course or in the workplace, his competitive spirit would shine.
Stephen began his accomplished career in Dallas as an accountant with Fina Oil & Chemical Company, and after 20 years of success, joined Triadas/Trinserv Alliance as Vice President. Stephen went on to serve admirably as COO/CFO and partner of Southern Garrett
of Houston, and, most recently, Chief Operating Officer of Ethylene Strategies International, of The Woodlands.
Stephen is beloved and remembered for his faith, honesty, sharp mind, humor and reliability by his relatives, friends, co-workers, classmates and caregivers. He was blessed as a parishioner of Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Parish in The Woodlands where the Mass
of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2016. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are his son, Andrew, brothers, Craig and Brian, cousin, Joseph Korkmas, and nephews, Anthony and Dominic Airola. A reception will follow at The Family
Center (Domec Hall) at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church. A private family burial will follow in College Station.
In lieu of flowers, an Aggie Ring Scholarship has been established in Stephen's name at Texas A&M University. Donations may be sent to The Association of Former Students, 505 George Bush Drive, College Station, TX 77840, referencing the Stephen Korkmas Family
Ring Scholarship.
Stephen had great affection for his middle and high school Form Master as well, who also married he and Lisa. The Father Melchior Chladek Scholarship is established at Cistercian Preparatory School, 3660 Cistercian Road, Irving, TX 75039-4599.
