Kenneth Kubala Sr.
November 5, 1945 - June 22, 2016

Kenneth Kubala Sr., age 70, of West, passed away late Wednesday morning, June 22, 2016 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco.

A rosary will be recited 4:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, followed by visitation until 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Paul Hudson and Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrants, assisted by Deacon Ronnie Sykora. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard.

Kenneth was born November 5, 1945 in Pilot Point, the son of Josie (Oujesky) and Henry Kubala. He was a 1963 graduate of Paris High School before attending Paris Junior College. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Entomology from Texas A&M in 1968. He served his country as a captain with the United States Army in Ft. Rucker, Alabama and Korea during the Vietnam War. On February 16, 1974 he was united in marriage to Margaret Hutyra in Waco. Kenneth was the City Secretary for the City of West for 25 years before retiring in 2009. Prior to that he was the co-owner of Community Disposal Service in Conroe. He was a very faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Kenneth was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly #2391, SPJST Lodge #92, KJT Society #31, RVOS Lodge #47, St. Mary's Cemetery Board, County Line Aggie Club, the West VFW Post #4819 and the St. Mary's Men's ACTS. He dedicated many years to the St. Mary's School Board, Bold Springs Water Supply and Westfest where he helped start the Taroky tournament. Kenneth enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing golf, canning pickles, making Mustang Grape wine, playing Taroky and being outside. He loved spending time with family especially with his four grandsons.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Henry Kubala and brothers-in-law, Mark Lansdown and Mike Click.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Margaret Kubala of West; children, Kristie Bryant and husband Blake of West, Angela Kennedy and husband Brad of West, Kenneth Kubala Jr. and wife Brandi of Longmont, CO, and Andrea Clifton and husband Chris of Austin; his mother, Josie Kubala; sisters, Yvonne Lansdown, Janice Bernsen and husband Ken, Sandra Kaplan, Joyce Reichardt and husband Frank, Vicki Clanton and husband Lynn and Patti Click; grandsons, Lucas and Cole Bryant, Jack Kennedy and Wyatt Clifton; a brother-in-law, Robert J. Hutyra and wife Georgia; a sister-in-law, Theresa Hutyra; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are Jeremy Lansdown, Patrick Click, Greg Clanton, Jim Maguire, Rodney Hutyra, Frank Reichardt, Lynn Clanton, Jeff Bernsen, Bill Nors, John Simcik, Russ Willsey, Tony Stacha and Richard Urbanovsky. Honorary pallbearers are past and present City of West Council members and employees and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Wish List or the West ACTS.
