Stephen Kent Foster II
February 24, 1981 - July 3, 2016

Services for Stephen Kent Foster II, 35, of Belton, will be held Friday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Belton.

Stephen passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at Lake Belton.

Stephen was born February 24, 1981, in Muleshoe, Texas, to Steve and Sudie Foster, the cherished brother to his older sisters Amy, Anna, and Christian.

Stephen graduated from Belton High School in 1999. He was a graduate of the Class of 2003 at Texas A&M University, where he received a degree in animal science. Stephen was a member of the F-2 outfit of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. He met his true love and best friend, Lesley Hennig, while they were both students at Texas A&M, and they married on December 20, 2008, in Salado.

After graduation, Stephen worked as a military contractor for Engineering Solutions & Products. He started working for the Bell County Sheriff’s Department in 2013 as a jailer and then became a Bell County sheriff’s deputy in 2015. Stephen served on the Crisis Intervention Team and greatly enjoyed helping others and making a difference in the community.

At an early age Stephen developed a love for being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and riding mountain bikes. He was handy and enjoyed learning to weld and work with his father in his shop. Later, he was always working on his countless project vehicles, modifying trucks for off-roading, and working on his boat. Stephen loved spending time traveling with Lesley on their various vacations and adventures. Stephen was known for his quick wit and story-telling ability, and never failed to make those around him laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Lesley Hennig Foster; his parents, Steve and Sudie Foster of Belton; grandmother, Bobbie Foster of Lubbock; siblings, Amy Foster of Belton, Anna Foster of Austin, and Christian Birch and her husband, Chester, of Trafalgar, Ind., and their children, Caty Beth and Colton; aunts, Billye Foster of Cookeville, Tenn., and Cindy Rickets and her husband, James, of Ocean Springs, Miss.; uncle, Bob Jenkins of Mertzon; cousins, Alison Gryder and her husband, Doug, of San Angelo, and Martin and Michele Montgomery of College Station, and Andrea, Donny, Carrie, and Daniel Meeks, all of Monahans, Daniel and Melanie Foster of State College, Penn., Brian Lee Foster of Cookville, Tenn., and Hayley Butler of Lubbock and her son, Hayden; and friends too numerous to count.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Helon Martin, and his paternal grandfather, BJ Foster; his uncle, Dan Foster; his aunt, Ann Jenkins; and his cousin, Chase Foster.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial scholarship has been established in Stephen’s name at Texas A&M University. Donations may be sent to the Association of Former Students at 505 George Bush Dr., College Station, Texas, 77840. Memorial donations may also be made to The Bell County Sheriff’s Department Memorial Foundation at PO Box 1563, Belton, Texas, 76513.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
