Edwin L. Jones, Jr. passed away on September 6, 2014 at the age of 83. He is survived by his son, Mark, and daughter, Patricia. He was a member of the Lamar High School ROTC, a graduate of Texas A&M in College Station, Class of '52, and later served in the Army. After his service, his young family moved back to Houston, where he worked as an Industrial Engineer for Southwest Industries/Ingersoll Rand. Eventually moving to Colorado in the early 1980's, he soon had an opportunity in 1983, to follow his passion for sports as one of the founding employees of Triple Crown Sports -- one of the first umpires ever hired. In 1987, he became "Umpire in Chief" and was later honored as an inductee into the Triple Crown Sports Hall of Fame.
Celebrations of his life will be held at Park Regency in Loveland on Friday, Sept. 12 (10:15 am), and on Saturday, Sept. 13, (2:00 pm) at Triple Crown Sports in Fort Collins.
Burial:
Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
