Herman Frederick Beverburg

August 23, 1922 - June 15, 2016

Herman F. Beverburg was born in Gillett, Arkansas on August 23rd 1922.
He joined the National Guard and served for the army in the Aleutian Islands during WWII.
After the war he continued his schooling at the Arkansas A & M and through his friend he had served with, met his wife Jean, they were married January 1st 1948. He transferred to Texas A & M and received his degree in electrical engineering. During their time there, His oldest son Stephen was born. After graduating they returned to Arkansas where their second son Bruce was born.
In 1955 they moved to California to work for Hughes Aircraft. For his work with Hughes he traveled to many places including various cities throughout Europe. He worked at Hughes until he retired in 1987.
After retirement he and his wife traveled to Australia to visit their son Bruce and their grandchildren in central Australia and in recent years has gotten to know his great grandchildren. One of whom on hearing his wife call him for dinner decided that his name must be “Honey”.
Herman was always learning and doing new things. He had his pilots license, was a HAM radio operator, learned VCR and computer repair, built a dollhouse for his granddaughter and Bee keeping boxes for his friend. He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts when his sons were young. He was on the Airport Land Use Commission for more years than anyone remembers. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid reader and was always in the middle of several library books. He volunteered at the La Mirada Senior Center. He created an oral history dvd while there. He also particularly enjoyed working in their computer lab.
He passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday morning June 15th 2016. He leaves behind, his wife, sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren and so many other friends and relatives who will miss him dearly.
