Richard Allen Tindall

Richard Allen Tindall, 81, of Friendswood, Texas passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016. He was born June 22, 1934 to Hattley Cecil Tindall and Daisy Davis Tindall in Stephenville, Texas.

Richard was a 1952 graduate of W. B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi where he played trumpet in the band and varsity baseball. He attended the Agricultural & Mechanical College of Texas where he attained his Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics after which he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1969 from South Texas College of Law. Richard was qualified as an Attorney and Counselor of Law for the Supreme Court of Texas and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He was on the Texas Board of Legal Specialization Family Law, 1975. He was a State Bar Director from 1980-1983 and a life member of the Texas Bar Foundation. Other memberships include: The American Academy of Family Lawyers; Burta Rhoads Raborn Family Law American Inns of Court; Sul Ross Group of Texas A&M; Friendswood Rotary Club; and Good Shepherd Episcopal Church of Friendswood. He lived his faith and served on Vestry and as a Lay Eucharistic Visitor and delivered Meals on Wheels for two local churches.

Following a 35-year career in family law, he retired in 2005. He thoroughly enjoyed retirement and said, “I get up every morning with nothing to do and don’t get started on that until noon.” He daily worked the NY Times crossword puzzle until finished. He enjoyed travel, theatre, fine dining, and followed Aggie sports especially football, basketball, and baseball. His last trip was in April to attend his 60th Aggie reunion. Richard was an avid hunter of waterfowl, dove, and pheasant, and collected antique decoy ducks and wildlife art.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Leola Hill Hancock; son, Richard Keith Tindall; daughters, Angela Hancock Crumley and husband George, and Gigi Tindall Greene and husband John; brother, Harry Lee Tindall and wife Marian; grandchildren, Trey Hancock and wife Laura, Brittany Hancock Gomez and husband Nicholas, Jessica Hancock, Cody Hancock and fiancée Melissa, and Emeline Crumley; great-granddaughters, Sophia and Marina Gomez; the Hill family; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and cherished friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Class of ’56 A&M College of Texas and Friendswood Rotary Club.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family request donations be made to the Texas A&M Sul Ross Scholarship, Texas A&M Foundation, 401 George Bush Drive, College Station, TX 77840 (Please designate the T. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 1207 W. Winding Way Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 with The Rev. Geoff Gwynne and Rev. Ralph Hobratschk officiating.
