James E. “Mickey” Jones
James E. “Mickey” Jones—exceptional husband, father, grandfather, and friend—died May 30, 2016. Mickey was born Dec. 28, 1942, in Wharton, Texas, and grew up in South Houston. He attended South Houston High School, where he was a quarterback on the football team. After graduating, he attended Texas A&M, where he studied mathematics and computer science. He married Patricia Jurek on Jan. 23, 1965. During their 51 years of marriage, they raised three children—Deborah, James, and Jason. Mickey spent his career at Memorial Hermann Hospital and Texas Commerce Bank, where he retired in 2004. Mickey loved playing softball and basketball, participating on several league teams throughout the years. He was a constant presence at Deborah’s cheering competitions, James’ baseball and soccer games, and Jason’s football games. He lived to serve his family, especially his wife, and he leaves behind a void that can never be filled. But his family and friends rejoice to know that when he finished his race, he heard God say, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the rest of your master.” He is survived by his wife, Patricia, and three children, Deborah, Jason, and James, daughter-in-law Leigh, and granddaughter Keziah.

The visitation will be held Friday, June 3, from 6pm-8pm at Niday – Fairmont Funeral Home in Pasadena. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:00pm at Pasadena Brethren Church.
