Joseph E. Wirsching

Born: Monday, November 15, 1926
Died: Tuesday, June 21, 2016

Joseph "Joe" Edward Wirsching passed away at the age of 89
in his home in Portland Texas. Joe was born in Tulsa
Oklahoma November 15, 1926 to Joseph John and Dana
Wirsching. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62
years, Ruth Wirsching and his oldest daughter Patricia
Kreher. He is survived by his son, Joe John Wirsching of
Snyder Texas, daughter Sarah and Paul O'Brien of Corpus
Christi Texas, daughter Jane Wirsching of Portland Texas,
grandchildren Charles an Jenna Kreher of New Orleans
Louisiana, Elizabeth and Greg Wagner of Hillsborough New
Jersey, David Kreher of Snyder Texas, Shelby and Kaley
O'Brien of Corpus Christi Texas, Avery and Allie Wirsching
of Portland Texas, great-grandchildren Abigail and Emily
Wagner of Hillsborough New Jersey and Alys Kreher of
Snyder Texas (mom Priscilla and brother Ayden).

Joe's father passed away when he was 8 years old leaving
him as the man of the family for his mother and 7 year old
sister. He began taking care of others at that time and
continued to do so until his death. He put himself through
Texas A&M University graduating with a Bachelor's of
Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1948. He was a great
husband and father and the best grandfather there could
possibly be. He was proud of all of his grandchildren
supporting every activity they engaged in from wrestling,
football, field hockey, volleyball, softball, basketball,
powerlifting, golf, dance, cheerleading, band, science fairs
and anything else his precious grandkids got into. He served
on the school board in New Orleans and was President of
many Oilfield related groups. He retired from Exxon
(Humble Oil) after 32 years and started a second career with
HNG bringing him to Portland Texas.

He was a proud member and avid supporter of First Christian
Church in Corpus Christi and he loved cheering on the Hooks
baseball team. His never ending dry sense of humor and
mischievous grin will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers
donations are requested to the First Christian Church
Permanent Endowment Fund in Joe's honor, care of First
