Birth: Aug. 15, 1954
Death: Jan. 13, 2008

Wayne Hughes, 53, of Gause, formerly of Waco, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Richards Memorial Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Gause Full Gospel Church, with Pastor Jerry Burns officiating. Interment will be at Gause Cemetery.

Wayne was born on Aug. 15, 1954, in Waco, to Jerry and Louise Hughes. He worked as a surveyor and civil engineering consultant and a chicken producer for Sanderson Farms. On May 9, 1975, he married Mary Lou Kornegay in Gause.

Wayne was a member of the Gause Full Gospel Church, and went on mission trips to Russia, Mexico, Guatamala and Peru. He spent many hours studying the Bible and conversing about what he read. From 1997 to 1998, Wayne went to Israel with his brother, Rick, to build eight American style homes. He was an avid golfer, gardner and woodworker, and he was also a painter.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Hughes, of Gause; sons, Jonathan Hughes, of Slidell, La., Jeffrey Hughes and Jordan Hughes, both of Gause; parents, Jerry and Louise Hughes, of Waco; in-laws, Willard and Joy Kornegay, of Gause; and brothers, Rick Hughes and wife, Susan, of Slidell, La., Dales Hughes and wife, Juanita, of Taylor, and Randy Hughes and wife, Carrie, of Waxahachie.

Memorials may be made to Gause Full Gospel Church to be used for a Guatamalan Orphanage.
