Royal "Roy" Merle Hanning
December 16, 1929 - July 22, 2015

Royal Merle “Roy” Hanning, age 85, of Van Alstyne passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at The Homestead of Sherman. He was born December 16, 1929 in Gunter Texas to Arch Hanning and Zilla Lowe. He married Margaret Bell May 14, 2008 in Van Alstyne Texas.


He is survived by his wife Margaret, daughters; Virginia Hanning, Carol Lewis, sisters; Ouida Hazelton, and Nelda Clay.

Roy was preceded in death by his first wife Lois Umphress Hanning, parents Arch and Zilla Hanning, and one brother Bill Hanning.

Funeral services will be at 2:00pm, Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Joe Ed Furr will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Elliott Cemetery in Van Alstyne with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until service time.
