Award-winning journalist Paul Chastain Barton, born November 16, 1957, Midland, Texas, died June 6, 2016, at his home in Arlington, VA. A tenacious reporter, he tackled specialized assignments in politics, civil rights, environmental issues, social services,
and the intersection of politics and federal tax policy.
His 34-year career included covering Bill Clinton during his Arkansas governorship, interviews with President George W. Bush and serving as Washington Bureau Chief for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. He also wrote for Capitol News Connection, Gannett-USA Today
and, most recently, Tax Analysts.
Barton and wife Mary Ann co-authored Campaign: A Cartoon History of Bill Clinton''s Race for the White House published by the University of Arkansas Press, 1993. Recently, he was working on a book about Texas A&M graduates'' experiences in the Vietnam Tet Offensive,
Barton, an ardent alum of Texas A&M University, is survived by wife, Mary Ann Busby Barton; daughter, Katherine Hays Barton and siblings, Joel Barton, Ashburn, VA, Ellen Morrison, Austin, TX, and David Barton, Amelia Island, FL. Memorial service: June 18, 11
