Bennie Gene Cervenka passed away on May 29, 2016. He was born in Houston, TX on July 6, 1944 to Joseph and Lottie Cervenka.
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lee Roy Cervenka and his sister Bettie Favor. He is survived by his wife of 48 years , Kathy, his daughters Tanya and her husband Mark Tamborello, Lecia and her husband Craig Ousley, Gina and her husband
Tim Morgan, and Danna and her husband Nathan Parsons, grandsons, Joshua and Daniel Tamborello and Landon Ousley and granddaughters Carys and Elin Morgan, Amelia Ousley and Megan Tamborello.
Bennie attended Reagan High School in Houston, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a Master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin University . He served on active duty in the Army for 12 years and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He continued his military
service in the Army Reserve and retired in 2004. He worked as a medical laboratory manager at Labcorp and retired in 2010.
Bennie loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. His favorite hobby was his ranch where he fished, hunted and took care of his cows and llama. He loved watching football and listening to polka music. “Granddad” took great pride in sharing his knowledge of
the outdoors with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia on Thursday, June 2 from 5 – 8 pm.
A private interment ceremony will be held at the Houston National Cemetary.
