Bradley Lynn Matyear
August 24, 1955 - May 8, 2016

Bradley L. “Brad” Matyear, 60, of Liberty, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital in Baytown.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2016, at the Liberty Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Liberty Church of Christ, with graveside services at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the Sweeny Cemetery in Sweeny. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Brad was born August 24, 1955 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Charles and Alyce Young Matyear. He was a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in Liberty for the past 23 years. He was a graduate of the Sweeny High School class of 1973, received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Texas A & M University in 1978, a chemical engineer by trade, an Eagle Scout, and Assistant Scout Master for Troop #208, Baytown. He was employed as a Liberty I.S.D. teacher and bus driver, and operated the train at Astroworld following his engineering career. Brad also enjoyed camping, fishing, genealogy, traveling, and animals.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years: Deborah L. “Debbie” Williams Matyear of Liberty, daughter: Bradlynn Louise Matyear of Liberty, son: Bryan Layne Matyear of Liberty, brother: Charles R. “Randy” Matyear and wife Cindy of San Antonio, numerous other relatives, friends, and his rescue dogs: Bella Rose, Bandit, and Gizmo.
