Warren Wimberly
1959-2016
Beloved husband, father, brother and friend Warren Reiss Wimberly passed peacefully at home on May 13, 2016 at the age of 56 after a courageous battle with ALS. Born and raised in Houston, Warren graduated from Memorial High School in 1978, attended Texas A&M and earned a BBA from The University of St. Thomas. He worked at American General / AIG for thirty years. A devoted family man, Warren lived a life rich with the love and respect of his family as well as friends and colleagues. A keen and quiet observer of people and society, he was always game for a lively discussion of current events. He loved Aggie football, fishing, skeet, and a night on the town with music and dancing, and coached youth baseball and soccer with Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association from 1992 to 2008. Warren was dedicated to hearth and home, and was most content working on the house and property or tinkering with his 1968 Mustang Fastback, which still runs to this day. Warren met his wife, Kel Lee Leach Wimberly, at Spring Branch Junior High. Their romance began in their late college years, but Warren had been "in love with Kel Lee since the 7th grade." They raised their two sons, Reiss and Trey, not far from where they both grew up here in Houston. He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Reiss Wimberly, and his father, Carter Wimberly, and survived by his loving wife, Kel Lee, sons Reiss and Trey, daughter-in-law Sarah; sisters Carol Connelly, Elaine Click and her husband, Jerry, Karen Reinke and her husband, Bert, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Warren leaves behind a legion of loyal friends and co-workers, who will always remember his easy smile, sense of humor, and gentle wisdom. A memorial service for will be held at Saint Theresa Catholic Church on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
