Francis Eugene Clark, 75, passed away on April 25, 2016 in College Station, Texas.

Francis was born to his father, Glenn Alvin Clark and mother, Mary Lou Clark, née McCormick, on April 2, 1941 in Sandusky, Ohio. With his father, mother, and sister, Francis lived in Huron, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; and Baxter Springs, Kansas, where he graduated from Baxter Springs High School and was a fullback on the football team. He lived in Miami, Oklahoma, where he attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College on a football scholarship and worked as a Cabinetmaker; Granville, Ohio, where, as a recruit, he studied acting and performed in productions as part of Summer Stock Theater at Denison University; and Pittsburg, Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science from Pittsburg State University, was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon, and worked as a Draftsman.

Francis married his wife on January 23, 1965 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri. With his wife, Francis lived in College Station, Texas, where he earned a Master of Education in Industrial Education, Engineering Design Graphics from Texas A&M University, while working as a Graduate Assistant; and Pittsburg, Kansas, where he was an Instructor in the School of Technology and Applied Science at Pittsburg State University. Francis and his wife's elder son was born on December 16, 1968 in Lexington, Kentucky. With his wife and elder son, Francis lived in Richmond, Kentucky, where he was an Assistant Professor in the College of Applied Arts and Technology at Eastern Kentucky University. Francis and his wife's younger son was born on December 2, 1970 in Columbia, Missouri. With his wife, elder son, and younger son, Francis lived in Columbia, Missouri, where he earned a Doctor of Education from the University of Missouri, while working as an Instructor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Practical Arts and Vocational-Technical Education; and Corvallis, Oregon, where he was an Assistant Professor and Research and Development Specialist on assignment for The Ohio State University.

In 1973, with his wife and two sons, Francis moved to College Station, Texas, where he would live with his wife for the rest of his life. He became a faculty member at Texas A&M University, where he would work for the remainder of his career. As a young father and community member, he served locally as Assistant Cubmaster and Cubmaster of Cub Scouts Pack 602; Coach of College Station Soccer Club; and Coach, Player Agent, Vice President, Chairman of the Board, and Trustee of Little League Baseball. Later in life, he participated in Gourmet Club and was a patron of Houston Grand Opera. During his tenure as a Professor, he was involved in many programs, including the Institute for the Gifted and Talented Galveston Island Adventure Camp and Study Abroad in Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, and Spain. He made numerous contributions through teaching, research, and service, including the administration of a program that was a major provider of elementary and secondary teachers in Texas. He also held various leadership positions, including Director of the Educational Technology Program; Assistant Head and Interim Head of the Department of Educational Curriculum and Instruction; and Assistant Dean and Associate Dean of the Graduate College. He was a member of the Graduate Faculty and, upon his retirement in 2011, he was named Professor Emeritus of Texas A&M University.

Francis is survived by his wife, Kathleen Marie Clark, née Heston, of College Station, Texas; elder son, Kevin Matthew Clark of Dallas, Texas; younger son, Eric Andrew Clark; daughter-in-law, Juliet deWaal Clark, née Duke; elder grandson, Parker Duke Clark; granddaughter, Kathleen Marie Clark; younger grandson, Charles Andrew Clark, all of Dallas, Texas; sister, Cynthia Rae Grady, née Clark; brother-in-law, John Eugene Grady, both of Harlingen, Texas; nephew, Brian Glenn Kirkpatrick of Carlsbad, California; and niece, Shannon Rae Griffiths, née Kirkpatrick, of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

A memorial service will be held May 9, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at All Faiths Chapel. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at The University Club on the 11th floor of Rudder Tower. Both venues are located in College Station, Texas on the campus of Texas A&M University and are connected by Military Walk. Parking is available at Central Campus Parking Garage. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Francis Eugene Clark can be made to the Texas A&M Singing Cadets and mailed to Texas A&M Foundation; 401 George Bush Drive; College Station, Texas 77840.
