PRESTON KELLY COOK
July 9, 1924 - April 25, 2016

On April 25, 2016 Preston Kelly Cook was reunited with Adele Cook, his wife of 59 years.

Born on July 9, 1924 to Alvah Raymond and Pearl Kelly Cook, Kelly and his five siblings grew up on a farm outside of Corsicana, Texas. Kelly was the Valedictorian of the graduating Class of 1941 from Mildred High School. He went on to graduate with a degree in Agriculture Engineering from Texas A&M University. He was a member of the Class of 1945 but graduated in 1949 after serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II. During his time in the Army he met his wife Francis Adele Johnson. They were wed and resided in married student housing while he finished his degree. Kelly worked for the Soil Conservation Service as an engineer for 35 years before “retiring” and continuing to work another 27 years for his son’s appraisal company. Kelly and Adele loved bowling, travelling with friends – having visited all 48 continental states together, Aggie Football and spending time with their family. Kelly was a proud member of the 12th Man Foundation having attended hundreds of Aggie Football, Basketball, Women’s Basketball and Baseball games in College Station. He was also a life-long Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Kelly is survived by his son and daughter-in-law John and Earlene Cook, a granddaughter and grandson-in-law Kelli and Luis Elizondo, a grandson Clayton Cook and two great-grandsons Lucas and Francisco Elizondo. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Sid and Annick Cook, sister Alvah “Cookie” Montgomery and brother Edward “Bunny” Cook. He was preceded in death by his brothers Glenn J. Cook and Raymond Wendell Cook.

Visitation will be held on Thursday April 28 from 6 – 7:00 pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm Friday April 29, 2016 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
