Everett C. Martin, Jr. of Bryan passed away Tuesday evening April 19 at his residence. At age 94, Dad went home to continue his 86 year walk with Jesus. This fightin' Texas Aggie '44 never wavered in his duty and service to country, family, and the Lord.

Everett's walk carried him through France and Germany with Gen. George Patton, earning him a silver star along the way. Upon returning home he married his sweetheart, Georgia Kathryn "Kay" Walton Martin. Over the next 67 years, he was blessed with three children, William Terry Martin '74 and his wife Bettye '84, Everett C. Martin III and his wife Kathleen, and Kathy Jane Trimble and her husband Andy '84.

His walk included 36 years in veterinary practice in Cherokee County, followed by numerous trips where he shared his veterinary skills and love for Jesus. Those trips included Ethiopia, China, Belize, and Ghana. During his life he also served as a deacon supporting Beall Chapel Baptist, Jacksonville, First Baptist, Rusk, and First Baptist, Bryan. As a chaplain, he participated in numerous prison ministries including Bill Glass ministries and local prison outreach programs. His heart continued to follow Texas Baptist Men.

Surviving Everett in addition to his children are his grandchildren, Jake and Kathryn Aeline Layman, Rebecca Lee Crawford, Joseph and Angeles Martin, Cliff Martin, Carissa Martin, Meagan Blevins, Sarah Trimble, and Melodie Trimble; five great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law Janie and Don Wester of Shawnee, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Georgia "Kay" Martin, his parents, Everett C. Martin, Sr. and Winnie Dell Mathis Martin, a sister and brother-in-law, Nelwyn and John Raborn.

Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Sunday April 24 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday April 25 at First Baptist Church in Bryan. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.
