Norman Neal Bonnett(1935 - 2015)
BALLINGER - Norman Neal Bonnett, 79, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, in Longview, Texas.
He was born July 16, 1935, in Liberty Hill, Texas, to Marion and Blanche (Turner) Bonnett. He graduated from Liberty Hill High School in 1953, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree as a distinguished student from Texas A&M University at College Station, Texas, in 1958, and the went on to complete his Master of Science Degree in 1960. Also during this time he served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army Aviation both in 1959, and then again in 1961 and 1962. He is a director in the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association and has been a director of Austin Livestock Show since 1964. He has served as Vice Chairman and then Chairman of the Board of the Austin Livestock Show, and Vice President and President of the Austin Farm and Ranch Club. Norman was an active member in his church, serving as a church school teacher for several years. He worked for the American National Bank of Austin as an Assistant Trust Officer. Prior to joining the bank he had served as an Assistant County Agent in Johnson County, Texas, and as Director of Development for Oklahoma Christian College in Oklahoma City.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Herschel Bonnett.
He is survived by his daughters, Sherri Bryan of Longview and Susan Boren of Post; son James Bonnett of Waco; grandchildren Kolin Bonnett of Abilene, Colton Bryan of Norman, Oklahoma, Justin Boren of Lubbock, Julie Boren of Lubbock and Garrett Bryan of Longview. Also surviving are two sisters, Iwanda Blesing of Ballinger and Reba Siegmund of Canyon Lake.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at 9th Street Church of Christ in Ballinger. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger.
