Selig Jerome Frank, age 95, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 in San Antonio. He was born March 2, 1920 to Sol and Rose Frank in San Antonio, Texas. He was active in the Boy Scout movement and was an Assistant Scoutmaster and received the Eagle Badge Award. Selig attended Jefferson High School and Texas A&M University (1938-1942). He joined the US Army where he served as a second Lieutenant Coast Artillery 635th Antiaircraft Artillery automatic weapons Battalion United States Army. Shortly after "D" Day his unit VIII Corps Headquarters landed on Normandy. During one these campaigns, he received a Battle Field promotion to First Lieutenant. He was honored for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy on December 18, 1944 in Belgium. He fought in seven campaigns from 1942-1945 and was awarded the Bronze Star by General George Patton during the Battle of Bastogne. He met the love of his life, his wife of 69 years, Bertie Kahn, and together they enjoyed fishing and traveling. Selig served on the Board of Directors for the San Antonio Lighthouse of the Blind for 50 years. He was a life member of the San Antonio Founder Lions Club and was active for 60 years. It is the oldest Lions Club in the world. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of Texas 8 Masonic Blue Lodge and a member of San Antonio Scottish Rite for 48 years. Selig was preceded in death by his parents, Sol and Rose Frank; brothers, Irving Frank and wife Elaine, and Melvin Frank; sisters: Celia Kalish; Leonore Kavy and husband, Mike. He is survived by his wife, Bertie Frank; sons, Allan Lawrence Frank, M.D. and wife, Jolene; Robert David Frank; grandchildren, Natalie Gwen Frank and David Dement and wife, Katie; sister-in-law, Dorothy Frank, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
