Jean McCall Patterson
February 28, 1925 - February 11, 2015

Jean McCall Patterson passed away on February 11, 2015 in Belton, Texas. She was born February 28, 1925 and raised in Temple, Texas. She was the daughter of George Montgomery and Edith Pearl McCall. Jean graduated from Temple High School and Temple Junior College. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Baylor University in 1949; a Master of Arts Degree in Economics from Texas Woman’s University in 1968; and a Doctor of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with support field in Business Management from Texas A&M University in 1986. She was an advocate of continuing education activities in which she participated. Jean enjoyed two careers as a secretary at Humble Oil/Exxon in Houston and as a classroom teacher in Wichita Falls. After retirement, she returned to Temple where she remained active until her health limited her in recent years. In the past she was a member of several historical and lineage organizations. Jean was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Jean was preceded in death her parents and her sister, Carol Woodfin. 

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Milner; sons, George Patterson and wife Nancy, Mark Patterson, and David Patterson; grandchildren, Holland Patterson, Andrew Patterson, Erika Stilwell and Travis Spatcher; great grandchildren, Athena Patterson, McCall Patterson, Piper Stilwell, Sloan Stilwell and Cooper Stilwell; first cousins, Linda Pennington, Richard Davis, Norman Davis and Lillian Perkins; nephews, Tom Woodfin and Bill Milner; nieces, Amy Woodfin and Peggy Loney.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Meridian Retirement Center where she resided for 25 years, to the staff of Baylor Scott and White Hospital where she was cared for with expertise and compassion, to the staff of Park Place Manor, and to the Hospice nurses and chaplain who in her last few days gave her dignity and comfort. 

Visitation will be held at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home on February 20th from 6-8 pm. 

Funeral Services will be on February 21st at 10:00 am with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cultural Activities Center 3011 North 3rd Street Temple, Texas 76501 or your favorite educational institution.
