Gene Westmoreland

Gene Westmoreland, 71, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, in Temple, Texas.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1943, in Dublin to Howard D. Westmoreland, Sr. and Sybil (Wilson) Westmoreland. On Nov. 16, 1962, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Susan Joyce Lindsey in Lamesa, Texas.
Gene attended Texas A & M University (1962 – January of 1967, on a full Track Scholarship. In 1969 Gene and Susan moved to Comanche, where Gene was employed by Comanche ISD as a teacher/coach. He served Comanche ISD for 44 years.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Westmoreland of Comanche; three daughters, Jill (Westmoreland) Kimmel of Tuscola, Robbin (Westmoreland) Guinn of Albany, and Amanda (Westmoreland) Carlisle of Comanche; five grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Spikes of Granbury and Sarah Westmoreland Mason-Phillips of Florida; and brother, Howard “Butch” Westmoreland of Lamkin.
Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2015, from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at Comanche High School Gym. Speakers will be Terry Barnes, Leta Andrews, and Scott Carlisle. Interment will be in Siloam Cemetery in Comanche County. Comanche Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
