Paulette Ellis was born on November 24, 1955 in Houston, Texas to Willie and Sarah Ellis, the youngest of four children. She graduated from Evan E. Worthing High School in Houston, TX, class of 1974. After graduation, she began her undergraduate studies at Eckerd College in Florida. At the end of her first year, she transferred to Texas A & M University with a major in Veterinary Medicine. In 1978, Paulette obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M in Biomedical Sciences. Afterward, she received her RN degree and license from Prairie View School of Nursing in downtown Houston in 1986. She later went on to obtain her Masters of Nursing degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center. Paulette served on the nursing staffs of Houston Methodist, St. Luke’s, and MD Anderson hospitals. During her career she was noted for her excellences in teaching courses at Prairie View School of Nursing and Methodist Hospital. She was employed at Kindred Hospital at the time of her retirement.

Paulette confessed Christ at an early age. She was nurtured in her spiritual development by her parents at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church. Later, Paulette moved her membership to Windsor Village United Methodist Church where she served in the Women’s Chorus for a number of years.

Her greatest joys were traveling, singing, bible study and taking courses and workshops to enhance her spiritual growth and development. She traveled extensively in both the United States and Canada. She also took a whirlwind 15 day European tour in 1992 visiting the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Buckingham Palace in London, the Vatican in Rome, windmills in Denmark and the canals in Vienna. This trip had special significance to her because she was such a world history buff.

Paulette was called home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness. She had an incredible will to live and faced each new medical hurdle with an indomitable spirit. Through it all, her faith made her strong.

Paulette was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Willie Ellis, Sr.; sister, Beverly Ellis and brother, Donald Ellis.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted brother , Willie Ellis, Jr. (Mercedes); three nieces: Chante Ellis, Kim Garcia (Gabriel), Elaine White (Andre); and six nephews: Timothy Ellis, Terreance Ellis (Leonette); Tony Ellis (Brenda), Lorenzol Ellis (Christine), Christopher Ellis and Stephen Ellis; two aunts Cleo Champion and Julia Tandy; two uncles: Deo Terry (Shirley) and James Terry and her best friend of forty years, Veronica L.
