Lieutenant Colonel USA (Ret) Phillip Henry Donahue passed away unexpectedly on January 23 in Kemp, Texas. He was born on October 5, 1925 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He moved to Lawton, Oklahoma as a teenager and graduated from Lawton High School in 1943 where
he lettered in football and track. He attended Texas A&M briefly before joining the Army. He was accepted into the United States Military Academy in 1946 and graduated in the class of 1950. While at West Point, he met his future wife, Teresa Coates, a sister
of one his classmates, whom he married in 1951. She preceded him in death in 2006. After retiring from the Army, he worked at the FAA Management Training school at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Phil was a man of intergrity and principles, along with keen intellect who always looked on the bright side of life. He enjoyed the outdoors and passed that on to his children. He especially like playing golf and a daily martini. As he aged and his memory began
to fade, he kept an unbelievably upbeat outlook on life. He was able to maintain his sense of humor and appreciation of life until the very end.
He is survived by his four children, Joe Donahue of Ogden, Utah; Jim Donahue of Chandler, Arizona; Sue Donahue of Kemp, Texas, and Teresa Savoie of Winchester, Virginia; along with eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please consider
donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
