Billy Clyde Smith

SAN SABA – Billy Clyde Smith, 78, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014  at the funeral home with Bro. Barry Fikes officiating. Interment to follow at Richland Springs Cemetery in Richland Springs.
 
Billy Clyde was born to George Boyd Smith and Vera L. Cheek on July 29, 1936 in Richland Springs, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Richland Springs graduating High School there. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Entomology. He was a caring and compassionate man who was always generous and willing to help friends, family, and members of the community when they were in need. He took great pride and joy in his family, farming, ranching and gardening. He is survived by Jerlene Smith of Brady: son, Joe Smith and wife, Rachelle, of San Antonio, Texas: daughter, Connie Maeker and husband, Joe, of College Station; five grandsons, Justin and Jared Smith, Clay Rayburn, Coleman Rayburn and Bobby Maeker: three brothers, Doyle Smith, Roy Smith and Maylon Richard: and a sister, Bertha Lou Hrachovy. 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jo Ann Smith, three brothers and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to the Richland Spring Cemetery Association.
