Raymond J. Ross 
(February 27, 1932 - November 16, 2014) 

Raymond Ross of Canaan, NH passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Valley Terrace Assisted Living in White River Junction, VT. He was born in Orange, VT on February 27, 1932 to Joseph and Alice Ross. After graduating from Barre, VT schools, he completed a four year apprenticeship at Brown and Sharp Machine Tool Company in Providence, RI. In 1959 he graduated from Keene Teachers College in Keene, NH with a teaching certification. After teaching for a year at Pembroke Academy in Pembroke, NH he won an NDEA fellowship at Texas A & M University, where he earned a doctorate degree in education. (Ded.) in 1966. In 1960, Raymond married Donna DeCato from Canaan, NH and together they raised four daughters: Mary Ross (husband Mark Cecchini), Valerie Pietrowicz, Cheryl St. Onge (husband David), and Linda Craig (husband Kevin). Ray had four grandchildren; Emily Pietrowicz, and Chelsea, Mitchell, and Rachel Craig. He is also survived by his sister, Rita West, of Sun City West, AZ as well as 3 nephews, Doug, Tom, and Todd West. Over his long teaching career, he taught vocational subjects at several schools of higher education, including Keene State College (NH), Montclair State (NJ), University of Vermont, and Central Connecticut State University. When he retired, he learned to fly a Cessna airplane and volunteered many hours to Habitat for Humanity in Fort Myers, Florida. There will be no calling hours and a private family burial will be held at a later date.The family would like to thank the Hospice nurses from the VNA, and the staff at Valley Terrace Assisted Living for their wonderful care during Ray’s final illness.
