Robert Morris Ledbetter

June 11, 1928 - November 18, 2014

Robert M. Ledbetter, 86, of Direct, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled a Memorial Service for 11:00 am, Friday, November21, 2014 at Oak Park United Methodist Church with the Reverends Judi Brandt and Steve Cook officiating.

Robert was born June 11, 1928 in Stephens County, TX to Robert Floyd and Bonnie Barker Ledbetter. He attended Tarleton State University from 1944–1946. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army from 1946–1948. Following his service in the Army he graduated from Texas A&M University, in College Station, in 1950. From 1951-1960 Robert was employed by the Texas Agricultural Extension Service.

He married Jane Grant Combs in Whitesboro, TX on November 28, 1953, building 56 years of family and memories, before her death December 8, 2009. Robert co-owned Ledbetter-Rhode Farm and Ranch Center from 1960-1970 and also was an active Farm & Ranch Owner/Operator, from 1970–to present. He was a Past President of the Texas Soybean Association and was a loyal, active member of Oak Park United Methodist Church, where he taught a Sunday School Class for several years.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and one sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ledbetter of Bedford; two sons, John Ledbetter & wife Diana Hun of Lenoir City, TN and William Ledbetter of Bedford; along with numerous neighbors and church friends.
