IVEY SR., Robert William Robert W. "Bob" Ivey, Sr. was born October 31, 1922 in Galveston, Texas to the late Edwin Harry Ivey, Sr. and Louise Madeline Lacorne Ivey and passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014. As a young child, Bob and his family moved to Dallas where he remained until his death. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1939 and enrolled at the Agricultural & Mechanical College of Texas (nowTexas A&M University) as a member of the class of 1944. While at A&M, he served as a member of the Ross Volunteer Company. Prior to graduation, his class was called into military service at Ft. Sam Houston. He was then assigned to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma where he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Field Artillery. He was medically discharged after suffering a broken pelvis in a serious vehicle accident. After graduating from A&M in 1945 with a degree in agriculture with emphasis on cotton marketing and classing, he joined his father as a cotton broker at E.H. Ivey & Co. On December 29, 1945 he married Emma Jane Vaughn of Dallas. Upon the sale of E.H. Ivey & Co. in the early 1960s, Bob began a forty plus year career as a stock and commodities broker and retired from Morgan Stanley in 2005 at the age of 82. Bob was a long time member of the Texas, Western and American Cotton Associations and regularly wrote a column on the commodity markets for the Dallas Times Herald. He was also a long time member of the Texas A&M Association of Former Students and a generous donor to numerous charities including the Texas A&M Foundation, where his support funded several academic and Corps of Cadets scholarships. As an active member at Christ the King Catholic Church, Bob was also involved in the Serra Club. Known as "Grandad" to his family, Bob was recently preceded in death by his "Honey" and wife of 68 years, Emma Jane. He was also preceded in death by his brother Edwin Harry Ivey, Jr. Bob is survived by his three children Sally Gardner and husband Jim, Rob Ivey and wife Amy, and Pat Ivey and wife Bea; grandchildren Kelly Vaughn Gardner, Dr. Jay Gardner and wife Kelly, Robert William Ivey III, Emily Carroll Ivey, Michael John Ivey and wife Tanna, Patrick Charles Ivey, and Patrick Murrah Ivey, Jr.; great-grandchildren Jacob Eugene Gardner, Aaron James Gardner, and Ivey Mae Gardner; and four nieces and one nephew. Visitation will be Thursday, November 20 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, November 21, 10:00 AM at Wildwood Chapel, Restland Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Home Instead , especially Sheri, Shirley, and Melissa. They would also like to acknowledge the staff of C.C. Young. Memorial gifts in honor of Robert W. Ivey, Sr. may be made to the Texas A&M Foundation (Attn: Jerome Rektorik, 401 George Bush Dr., 1234 TAMU, College Station, TX 77843) in support of the Corps of Cadets General Scholarship Fund, St. Mary's Catholic Center (603 Church Ave., College Station, TX 77840), or a charity of the donor's choice .

Robert William Ivey Sr. was born on October 31, 1922 in Galveston, Texas and passed away on November 16, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. 

The visitation for Robert will be on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Restland Funeral Home.

The service for Robert will be on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 10:00am at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
