1930-2014
Harvey Dale Thompson, 84, passed away in Columbus, Texas on November 17, 2014. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on August 15, 1930, to John H. Thompson and Edith Weddington.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Dale was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid golfer and hunter. Dale was a graduate of Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He proudly served his country during the Korean War and again as a member of the National Guard during the Berlin Crisis. He was a long time member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. He retired from Armco/ Contec Inc., but served as an engineering consultant for many years after his retirement. He has been a member of Texas A&M Twelfth Man Foundation for almost 39 years. He was also an active member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Evelyn Thompson; children, Gayle Schaefer, Randy Thompson and wife Gigi, and Jody Thompson and wife Betty; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, John W. Thompson and wife Peggy; and many other friends and relatives.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service and Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive, Houston, Texas 77024. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
