CHARLES FARRELL WILSON

Dr. Charles Farrell Wilson, "Charlie", 84, made his grand entrance into Heaven on November 13, 2014. Called home; he now rests in the comfort of our Lord and Savior.

Dr. Wilson was born in Roans Prairie, Texas November 8, 1930. During the Korean War, he spent four years proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. As his tour was ending, he asked a fellow soldier and friend where he would go when he came home. His friend replied, "The School of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University", right then and there, Charlie agreed that was as good a plan as any. He attended A&M and attained his D.V.M in 1958. His love for animals was humbling and infectious. He dedicated most of his life to the people of his community and their pets, providing care to all who entered his clinic. He was a part of a team of doctors who built the first Animal Emergency Clinic in Houston, Texas. The hard work of the seven original members made the practice a thriving business and refuge for injured animals.

As an active member and Sunday School Teacher of Friendswood United Methodist Church for 40 years, Charlie lived his life as a true disciple. The quote he lived by, which can be found in the front cover of his bible, reads: "Love the least lovable, because they need it the most". Just as Jesus loved the unlovable, Charlie followed his lead.Dr. Wilson was the kind of man who believed in every person and their purpose here on Earth. He helped others find their strengths and encouraged them through their weaknesses. He never met a stranger and made it a priority to build meaningful and lasting relationships. At his core he was a servant for our Lord, leading people to Him every chance he got. Charlie was honest, plain and simple. He never held back on telling the truth, regardless of whether you were ready to hear it. He was a soldier, a teacher, a physician, a friend. He loved to cook and fish and eat. He was a gardener and one with nature. On family vacations, one could point at any tree, rock or flower and he would call it by name, know its purpose, and tell you how much sun it needed. He was a light that shone bright in this world and he will always be remembered in the hearts of those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by, his loving wife Laverne Carlisle Wilson; brothers, Grover Cleveland Wilson, Vernon Wilson; mother Audra Hurry, and father Grover Wilson.

He is survived by his sister Miriam Cauthern; daughter, Pam Martin and husband Neal Martin; son Mark Wilson; daughter Linda Martinez and friend Bill Martin; son Tony Walton and wife Leah Walton; grandchildren, Lindsey Hales, (Jered Hales), Brian Barfield, Adam Barfield, Lorenzo Martinez, Falon Martinez, Gabriel Martinez, Madeline Walton, Lane Walton, Dr. Michelle Boatright DVM and husband Logan Boatright, Derrick Martin and wife Sara Martin; great-grandchildren Brooklyn Hales, and Crosby Hales; many other relatives and cherished friends.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Monday, November 17, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200.

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." - John 13:34-35
