Shane E Jenson
(November 29, 1969 - October 20, 2014)

Shane Eric Jenson, 44, of Sugar Land – a proud Texas Aggie Class of ’92 - passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Monday, October 20, 2014. Shane's family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2pm Monday, October 27, 2014, at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church 431 Eldridge Road, Sugar Land, Texas, 77478. The family respectfully asks that mourners’ dress include Shane's favorite color maroon.

The oldest of three brothers, Shane was born on November 29, 1969, in Logan, Utah to the late Karen Peterson Poynor and Richard Jenson. He was raised by his mother and Steve Poynor, who he loved as a dad and best friend.

Shane graduated with honors from Odessa Permian High School in 1988 where he was a proud Panther football player, #75. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in accounting from Texas A&M University in 1992. At A&M, Shane provided leadership and service to the MSC Wiley Lecture Series, MSC Council, and College of Business Administration Fellows. For his contributions to student activities, he was recognized in '92 with one of the highest Aggie honors - the Buck Weirus Spirit Award - for his contributions to student activities.

After graduating in '92, Shane earned his CPA license and began his professional career serving as assistant treasurer and controller (a title he particularly enjoyed) for the Republican Party of Texas. He continued his career joining KPMG advancing to a senior manager, followed by Petrobras America as a supervisor, and finally Cornerstone Mortgage where he served as vice president and controller (reclaiming the title).

While at the RPT, Shane found his soul mate, Amanda Lillis, an equally proud Texas Tech Red Raider. After a little over a five month secret (but not really – everyone at work knew) courtship and engagement, Shane and Amanda wed on May 15, 2004. A little over 7 years ago they welcomed their daughter, Kendall, into the world, completing their precious and strong family.

Friends and family know that Shane took particular pride in being a member of the A&M class of '92. His license plate was 92 TEXAG. The last four digits of his cell number were 9292. For Shane, 92 was a base number. He would enjoy that the written celebration of his life included 11 references to 92 (12 if you count that his birthday is just 92 reversed).

Shane will be long remembered and loved by his family and friends, including his wife Amanda and their daughter Kendall of Sugar Land, his dad Steve Poynor and wife Joyce of Odessa, his father Richard Jenson and wife Debbie of Austin, his brother Jarod and wife Myka of Southlake, his sister Jennifer of Fredericksburg and husband Nick, his brother Travis and wife Melissa of Tomball, his brother Joe and wife Melissa of San Antonio, his grandmother, Gloria Peterson of Meridian, Idaho, father-in-law Kenneth Schultz of Ledbetter, his nieces, Jordan, Kyla, Anabelle, Mya, Stephanie, Alyssa, Emery and Kylie, and nephews Corbin and Joseph as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Karen, his mother-in-law Lori, grandfathers, Wayne, Allen and Jay, grandmothers, Dorothy and Daffy and his Aunt Lorraine.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Shane Jenson to Texas Children's Hospital (https://waystogive.texaschildrens.org/donate-now) or the Texas A&M MSC Wiley Lecture Series through the Texas A&M Foundation (https://securelb.imodules.com/s/1436/gid3give/2014/index.aspx?sid=1436&gid=3&pgid=322).
