Roy A. "Big Daddy" Sims, 88, of Texarkana, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday morning, October 19, 2014, at home after a lengthy illness.

He then returned to his beloved Texas A&M University to earn his B.S. in Agricultural Education. He taught vocational agriculture in New Boston, Texas, for a few years before being employed by the Texas Employment Commission of Texarkana, Texas, from which he retired in 1983 after 31 years of service.

Big Daddy never missed an opportunity to make his family and friends feel special and loved. He was such a wise, thoughtful, generous and loving man. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

The family would like to extend a HUGE "thank you" to Serenity Hospice and Precision Sitting Service, both of Texarkana. Their professionalism and compassionate care for Big Daddy was extraordinary.

Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday at East Funeral Home, 2807 Moores Lane, Texarkana, Texas.
