Arnold "Arnie" Schmitz
Arnold "Arnie" Schmitz, 85, of Ormond Beach, Florida, died, October 11, 2014 at Florida Hospital Hospice Care, Daytona Beach, Florida. Arnold was born June 6, 1929 in Galveston, Texas to Wilhelm and Anna L, (Zimmermann) Schmitz. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University and served his country as an Air Police Officer Captain during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force. He was Emergency Medical Service Coordinator for Harris County, Texas and a rural route carrier for the postal service in Hawaii. He and his wife, Linda volunteered with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office in the Citizens Observer Program and Meals on Wheels for many years. He loved clogging and square dancing. "Arnie" is survived by his wife Linda Schmitz, Ormond Beach, daughters Kathy Burch and Nancy Penque, Birmingham, AL, Buddy Schmitz, Anniston, AL, Keith Earney, Port Orange, and Crystal Falch, Jacksonville, FL. Memorial contributions may be made to "Journeys End Animal Sanctuary", P.O. Box 220163, Glenwood, FL 32722 in his memory. Arrangements are under the careful care of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
