Allen Gene Meister
August 20, 1917 - August 25, 2014 
Resided in Baytown, TX

Allen G. Meister, 97, died on August 25, 2014. He had lived a long and fruitful life and was loved by so many. He was born to Martha Ehlers and Adolf Meister on August 20, 1917 in Runge, Texas. He graduated from Pharr-San Juan High School in Pharr, Texas. He then attended Texas A&M and graduated in 1940.

Upon graduation from A&M, Allen proudly served his country during WWII as a group bombardier flying in B-24s. During his tour of duty he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters, and Presidential Citation Award. 

After returning home from WWII, he moved to Baytown working with the Community Chest organization and Baylon Home for Boys. He eventually established an insurance agency with American General Life Insurance to include locations in Baytown, Liberty, Galveston, and Texas City. During that time he was also active in the Lions Club, the Baytown A&M Club, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many friends and family. He helped establish the First Christian Church in Baytown which he dearly loved. Moreover, after retiring he enjoyed the outdoors looking after the cattle on the family ranch in South Texas. He never met a stranger and was kind, loving, and tenderhearted, and will be dearly missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Christine Dale Armstrong of Water Valley, Texas. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Judy Meister, of Pearland; two grandchildren, Kim Stanley and husband Chris of Clear Lake and their children Chase, Hannah, and Jordan; Andy Meister and wife Jennifer of San Antonio and their children Kyle and Courtney; as well as, many loved nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held at Navarre Funeral Home, 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28th. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 29th at White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd, Highlands, Texas 77562, (281)426-3555. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Andy Meister, Chris Stanley, Dr. Neal Chastain, Ken Green, Ronnie Green, Bob Putz, and Don Smith.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the First Christian Church, 201 Forrest Ave., Baytown, Texas 77520.
