Daniel Olin Atkinson(1932 - 2014)
ATKINSON, Daniel Olin Daniel Olin Atkinson, 82, of Dallas, passed from this life to the next on Sunday, September 14. He was born to Lanham and Ivy Lane Atkinson in Amarillo on June 13, 1932. Olin is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary and his children: Scott and wife Sherry of Dallas and Judi and husband Kevin Latt of the Saranac Lake area, New York. He is also survived by his siblings: Lanham and wife Mabel of Hurst; Linda and husband Marion Scott of Denton; Marilyn and husband Larry Ivy of Fort Worth and his sister-in-law Sue Wilson of Dickinson. Olin is also survived by grandson Chris and wife, Kelley of Coppell; granddaughter Laura and husband Travis Roye of Austin; granddaughters Sarah of Orlando, Florida and Jessica of Buffalo, New York. He is further survived by four great-grandchildren, nine nephews, three nieces and their spouses and children. Olin earned a BS in Petroleum Engineering in 1954 and an MS in 1955 at Texas A&M. Olin and Mary were wed in 1956. His career was with Magnolia Petroleum Co. and Mobil Oil Corp. He retired in Dallas after 33 years. In 2009, Olin and Mary moved to the community of Highland Springs in Dallas and have further enlarged their circle of friends there. Memorials The Church of the Holy Communion (holycommuniondallas.org) or North Dallas Shared Ministries (ndsm.org).
