Patrick McBride '80 September 15, 2014 2:11 PM

(Published in) The Galveston Daily News on September 13, 2014

Patrick “Pat” McBride passed away peacefully in his sleep in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia on March 8, 2014.  He was 60 years old.  Pat was a loyal husband, generous friend and kind to everyone he met.  Pat had a great sense of humor, enjoyed a good joke and especially took pleasure in
making people laugh.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Pat was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Saratoga, California.  He graduated from Saratoga High School, where he met his future wife, in June 1971.  He earned his B.S. in Marine Transportation from Texas A&M University, Galveston.  Pat sailed for 20 years with Keystone on the Fredricksburg and Chilbar and was Chief Mate when he departed in 1999 to pursue a career as a vetting inspector.  For the past 14 years he worked for Vela International Marine and Saudi Aramco in Dhahran and Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia. At the time of his passing Pat was preparing to retire to Marble Falls, Texas to pursue his dual passions of motorcycle riding and barbecuing.

Pat is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Sharon; daughter, Carolyn; mother, Marjorie Gerdts; two brothers Terry and Brian McBride; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be given for Pat on what would have been his 61st birthday on
Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 2:00-5:00 pm at Mario’s Italian Restaurant, 628 Seawall Blvd, Galveston, TX.
