Bonnie Jean Farris Jackson
July 5, 1934 - August 8, 2014
Bonnie Jean Farris Jackson passed away peacefully in her bed at home while under the care of Vitas Hospice on 8 August 2014 at the age of 80. She was born on 15 July 1934 in Morehouse, MO to Alice and James Farris, destined to ride the main parade float as
Cotton Carnival Queen and to graduate as Valedictorian of Morehouse High School. On 21 November 1952 she married Thames F. Jackson, Jr., thereafter to become a mother to four sons and a military spouse during her husband's 34 years of USAF active duty. She
pursued her own interests in higher education after her children were grown, attending SAC and Our Lady of the Lake University before transferring to UTSA, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in English. She followed that by earning a Master of Library
and Information Science from UT-Austin and a Master of Education from Texas A&M in College Station. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as two siblings, Kenneth and Shirley. She is survived by her sister, Melba Horton of Sikeston, MO; her husband
Thames of San Antonio; and her four sons and their families, Jon David and Nancy Q. of Albuquerque, NM and their daughters Jennifer and Jocelyn, Joe Allan and Molly of Sulphur, LA and their daughters Brooke and Brittney; Jim Edward and Nancy B. of Pittsburgh,
PA and their daughter Cosima; and Jack Richard of San Antonio.
