Don Packnett
Don Packnett, 83, died on August 24 in Goodyear, Arizona. He was born in DeQueen, Arkansas, at the nearest hospital to his parents' home in Oklahoma.
In the eighth grade he won the Oklahoma state math competition and shortly afterwards the family moved to Phoenix. Don graduated from North High School as valedictorian of his class and later majored in chemistry at ASU, where he graduated cum laude. He received
his master's degree from Texas A & M in radar meteorology and did his PhD studies at the University of Michigan in meteorology and solar physics. His career in the Air Force took the family to many places world-wide. He was a Vietnam veteran.
He is survived by his wife-June, son-Mark Packnett, daughter-Sandy Finn and grandchildren: Ashley McCaughan, Kaylan Bockenfeld, Chris and Mandy Packnett.
A celebration of life will be held at the Church at Litchfield Park on Saturday, August 30 at 1:00 pm.
