Martin, born on April 15, 1922 in Henrietta OK. His Mother was born in OK Territory, and there is Indian ancestry in the family. John went to be with Our Lord, on July 29, 2014 in Houston TX.
Education was very important to John. He received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Houston and a PhD from Texas A & M University. He was a Professor and Dean of Engineering at the U of H. He was the Dean of the University of Nebraska. He also taught the Master's Program to Air Force officers in England and Germany.
In 1958, he married Wanda Pate.
John had many other accomplishments. He taught Sunday School at St. Paul's Methodist Church. He established an endowment to the benefit of the University of Houston, and was a regular contributor to Children's Homes and Animal Shelters.
John was very dedicated to education. He was devoted to Wanda and never fully recovered from her death. He was a man of strong moral character and dedication to education. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Martin Strawn (and husband, Roye); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; his parents and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Fri., August 1, 2014 at St. Paul's Methodist Church, 5501 Main St.,Houston TX 77004 at 11 a.m.
